Kenya Met says rain will continue in about 20 counties across the Lake Victoria basin, Rift Valley and Western regions through Tuesday, with night temperatures dropping to 5°C in parts of Central Kenya.
The Kenya Meteorological Service Authority (KMSA) says rainfall will continue in about 20 counties across the Lake Victoria basin, Rift Valley and Western regions through Tuesday, June 30, as part of a five-day outlook that began on Friday, June 26.
Where to Expect Rain
Counties expected to receive afternoon showers and thunderstorms on most days include Siaya, Kisumu, Homa Bay, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, Trans Nzoia, Baringo, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo Marakwet, Nandi, Nakuru, Narok, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Busia and West Pokot. Rainfall was widespread on Friday and is expected to pick up again on Monday, easing to a few areas on the remaining days of the outlook.
Central Kenya and Nairobi
Residents in Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang'a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka Nithi and Nairobi should also prepare for showers over a few places. The region will see cloudy mornings giving way to sunny intervals, with occasional night showers from Saturday through Tuesday.
Mostly Sunny Elsewhere
Turkana and Samburu will remain mostly sunny, with only isolated showers expected on Saturday. The Southeastern lowlands, covering Kitui, Makueni, Machakos, Kajiado and Taita Taveta, will also stay mostly sunny after cloudy mornings on Friday, with no significant rainfall expected.
Along the Coast, including Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu, Kwale and the Tana Delta, only light showers are expected in a few places, including on Monday and Tuesday, with the rest of the period mainly sunny.
Temperature Advisory: Cold Nights Ahead
Kenya Met has also warned of chilly night conditions through Tuesday. Night temperatures are expected to drop to as low as 5°C, particularly in Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang'a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka Nithi and Nairobi, with nights there ranging between 5°C and 6°C and daytime highs of 25°C to 27°C.
In the Rift Valley, Lake Victoria basin and Western Kenya, temperatures will remain moderate, with daytime highs of 29°C to 31°C and nights ranging from 9°C to 11°C.
