Nigerian cleric Primate Elijah Ayodele issues fresh warning to President Ruto, cautioning that rising protests and opposition strategies could destabilise Kenya's government.
Kenyan politics has once again found itself at the centre of prophetic scrutiny as Nigerian cleric Primate Elijah Ayodele, leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, issued a fresh and pointed warning directed at President William Ruto — declaring that Kenya is heading into a politically sensitive period that could either define or destroy his presidency.
In a statement released through his media office on Tuesday, June 16, the cleric warned that rising protests and bold new opposition strategies pose a genuine threat to the stability of Ruto's government.
The Core Warning: Protests Could Bring Down Ruto
Ayodele did not mince words.
"Kenya: The country will face various challenges, especially for the president. The opposition will stand out to see if they bring a shocking strategy against Ruto. If Ruto isn't careful, these protests will destroy his government," he stated.
The warning lands against a backdrop that many Kenyans will immediately recognise. The Gen Z-led protests of 2024 that forced Ruto to withdraw the Finance Bill and reshuffle his Cabinet remain fresh in public memory. Ayodele appears to be signalling that another wave of pressure — possibly larger and more politically coordinated — is building.
A Dangerous Opposition Is Taking Shape
Beyond street protests, the cleric warned that opposition leaders are preparing new and potentially surprising political strategies aimed squarely at dismantling Ruto's authority.
"The opposition will come up with new ideas to fight Ruto, and he must get ready," he cautioned.
In earlier April prophecies, Ayodele had already flagged the emergence of a strong opposition alliance as the single biggest threat to Ruto's political dominance heading into 2027. He warned that if fragmented opposition groups successfully consolidated, the political consequences for the government could be severe.
However, he also noted that the opposition carries its own risk. "If the opposition isn't firm enough, Ruto will do everything to mess them up completely," he said — framing the unfolding situation as a high-stakes political chess match where miscalculation on either side could prove fatal.
Internal Cracks and Economic Pressure
Ayodele did not limit his warnings to external opposition. He cautioned that internal disagreements within government ranks could equally destabilise the administration — suggesting that some of the most dangerous pressure facing Ruto may come from within the Kenya Kwanza coalition itself.
He further warned that planned economic policy changes risk triggering public dissatisfaction, potentially exposing the government to accusations of corruption and financial mismanagement — a particularly sensitive warning given that economic grievances have historically been the fuel behind Kenya's most explosive protests.
Pray Against a Plane Disaster
On the security front, Ayodele extended his warning beyond politics, urging Kenyans to pray against what he described as a possible plane disaster.
"They must pray against a plane disaster," he said, calling on the nation to remain alert to unexpected national shocks.
The Bottom Line
Whether received as prophetic guidance or read as political commentary, Ayodele's message maps onto real tensions already visible in Kenya's public life — a government under pressure, an opposition sharpening its tools, and a populace whose patience with economic hardship is not unlimited.
