Nairobi County Chief Environment Officer Geoffrey Mosiria has ignited debate on social media after sharing a candid message about the challenges of dealing with relatives, particularly when offering them support.
In a series of remarks shared online, Mosiria argued that bringing relatives too close to one's work or personal affairs can sometimes create unnecessary problems rather than strengthen family bonds.
"If you want to invite trouble into your life, bring relatives too close to your work or your heart, especially when you're trying to help them," he said.
According to Mosiria, people should exercise caution when extending trust, even to family members. He noted that while many people genuinely appreciate support, others may become resentful or fail to celebrate another person's achievements.
He added that kindness should always be accompanied by wisdom and healthy personal boundaries.
"Sometimes, the very people you support can be the ones who betray your trust. Not everyone celebrates your success; some may only be comfortable when they see you struggling," Mosiria said.

Mosiria went on to claim that only a few relatives genuinely wish others well.
"Relatives ni wachache wazuri. Wengine wanakuombea tu uanguke," he stated.
He further suggested that even after receiving financial or emotional support during difficult moments, some relatives may still work against the person who helped them.
"Yaani hata akue mgonjwa, umchangie vipi. Regardless of that, they'll be the first to dig a hole for you not to prosper," he added.

Mosiria's comments quickly attracted reactions from social media users, with some agreeing with his observations.
