Mombasa-based artist and environmental advocate Shanariha Evans is taking Kenya's youth climate agenda to the international stage during her ongoing London tour.
Evans, the founder of Young Warriors Club Kenya, has engaged Judge Peter Herbert OBE, a retired human rights barrister, political activist, and Co-Chair of Bandung Africa, to explore potential collaboration between her organisation and the pan-African advocacy group.
According to Evans, the discussions centred on creating opportunities for young people to take meaningful leadership in climate action, environmental protection, economic empowerment, and social mobility. She emphasised the need to move beyond conversations and give young people a real seat at the table in shaping solutions for their communities and the planet.
Young Warriors Club Kenya, which Evans founded and leads, has built a reputation at the Coast for combining environmental education with hands-on community action, including mangrove restoration, beach clean-ups, and climate literacy programmes aimed at children and young people. Bandung Africa, for its part, is an international non-governmental organisation with offices in Kenya and Nigeria, working to foster Pan-African solutions to global issues by connecting Africans on the continent with the diaspora.
The engagement marks a significant step in Evans' growing environmental advocacy and her ongoing efforts to connect Kenyan youth with international platforms for sustainable development and social change. It also comes as Evans continues to build a profile beyond music and writing, having previously been recognised internationally for her environmental work and her children's book on ocean conservation.
For Young Warriors Club Kenya, a potential partnership with an organisation of Bandung Africa's standing could open new doors for Kenyan youth to engage directly with international human rights and development networks, expanding the reach of youth-led climate action beyond the Coast region.
