Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir rallies Coast leaders around economic liberation, blue economy, and land rights at an ODM Women's Empowerment forum in Kwale.
Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir has reaffirmed his commitment to the economic liberation of Coast residents, calling for unity and focus as the region pushes forward on jobs, land rights, healthcare, and the blue economy.
Speaking at an ODM Women's Empowerment event in Kwale, the governor laid out what he described as a clear and unwavering agenda for the Coast region — one built on tangible opportunities rather than political noise.
A Clear Agenda for the Coast
According to Nassir, the roadmap for Coast development isn't complicated. It centers on creating jobs, expanding access to education and healthcare, securing land rights for residents, strengthening the blue economy, and ultimately putting more money into people's pockets.
"Our agenda is clear: create opportunities, expand access to education and healthcare, secure land rights, strengthen our blue economy, and put more money in the pockets of our people," the governor said.
For a region long defined by its coastline and maritime potential, the emphasis on the blue economy signals continued investment in fishing, ports, and marine-based livelihoods as a pillar of economic growth.
No Room for Distractions, Says Nassir
The governor took a firm stance against what he called empty rhetoric and personality-driven politics, urging Coast residents to stay focused on substance over noise.
"We urge our people not to be distracted by empty rhetoric, politics of personalities, or leaders who offer criticism without solutions," he stated. "Leadership is about vision, ideas, and a clear path forward. We know where we are taking our people, and we will not be diverted from that journey."
It's a message clearly aimed at critics who, in his view, offer noise without alternatives — and a reminder that the Coast leadership intends to stay the course regardless of political distractions.
A United Front of Coast Leaders
The event brought together a strong lineup of Coast leadership, underscoring the unity behind this development push. Nassir was joined by CS Ali Hassan Joho, ODM Secretary General Hon. Catherine Omanyo, Kwale Woman Representative Hon. Fatuma Masito, Kwale Senator Hon. Issa Juma Boy, Mombasa Women Representative Hon. Zamzam Mohammed, and Magarini MP Hon. Harrison Garama Kombe, among other regional leaders.
The gathering reflects a coordinated effort among ODM-aligned Coast leaders to present a unified front on regional development priorities ahead of what promises to be an active political season.
What This Means for the Coast
With land rights, healthcare access, and blue economy investment topping the agenda, residents will be watching closely to see how these promises translate into action. For now, the message from Kwale is one of focus and resolve — economic liberation, the leaders insist, remains the destination, regardless of the political distractions along the way.
