Infotrak: Ruto Tops 2027 Presidential Poll, Kalonzo Second at 13%

New Infotrak poll shows President Ruto leading the 2027 presidential race with 32%, followed by Kalonzo Musyoka at 13%, while Gachagua and Matiang'i tie at 12% each.

President William Ruto would win the presidency if an election were held today, according to the latest Infotrak survey. The poll shows Ruto leading the presidential race with the support of 32 percent of respondents, putting him well ahead of his closest rivals.

Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka ranked second with 13 percent, while former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i tied for third place with 12 percent support each. The survey also found that 13 percent of respondents were undecided, making them a potentially decisive voting bloc ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Former Chief Justice David Maraga ranked fifth with 7 percent, followed by former Public Service Cabinet Secretary Justin Muturi at 5 percent and Busia Senator Okiya Omtatah at 4 percent. Former Defence Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa, former Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria and NARC Kenya leader Martha Karua each garnered 2 percent support.

Kalonzo's support is concentrated in the Lower Eastern region, where he secured 66 percent. Matiang'i posted his strongest showing in South Nyanza with 41 percent, while Gachagua dominated the Mt Kenya region, polling 68 percent in Mt Kenya East and 62 percent in Mt Kenya West.

Infotrak further found that Wamalwa's support was largely concentrated in Western Kenya, where he polled 26 percent, while Omtatah performed best in Western (15 percent) and Nairobi (9 percent).

The findings suggest that although Ruto currently enjoys a clear lead, the presidential contest remains fluid, with several opposition figures attracting double-digit support and a sizeable share of voters yet to settle on their preferred candidate.

The survey was conducted between June 22 and June 26, 2026, interviewing 3,000 adults. Data was collected using a mixed-method approach combining Computer-Assisted Personal Interviewing (CAPI) and Computer-Assisted Telephone Interviewing (CATI).
