A woman was reportedly injured on Tuesday afternoon after she was knocked to the ground during a cash handout exercise involving Nairobi governor aspirant Milton Lucheri along Riverside Drive in Nairobi.
The incident occurred at around 1pm near Riverside Square, where Lucheri had reportedly stopped his vehicle to distribute money to construction workers and boda boda riders gathered along the road.
A video seen by Don Sami Live shows a group of people running alongside the moving vehicle, with several clinging to its sides as the cash distribution continued. The footage captures people jostling around the vehicle as some individuals attempt to push others away.
During the commotion, a woman identified as Rose, who was reportedly selling pineapple slices with her daughter nearby, fell onto the road.
The video then shows the vehicle driving away as bystanders dispersed, leaving the woman lying on the ground. Witnesses claimed she was pushed during the scramble, although the circumstances surrounding her fall have not been confirmed.
The incident briefly disrupted traffic as the woman was left lying on the road in the path of oncoming vehicles before another woman rushed in to assist her.
No official statement had been issued by Lucheri or his team on the incident by the time of publication.
The incident comes as politicians increasingly engage in public outreach activities ahead of the 2027 General Election. Lucheri recently declared his intention to contest the Nairobi gubernatorial seat under the People's Renaissance Movement (PRM) Party, though his official campaign has not yet been launched.
Ahead of the 2022 general elections, Lucheri sought the Nairobi Senator seat under the United Democratic Alliance (UDA). He previously served as a board director for the Rural Electrification and Renewable Energy Corporation (REREC). In May 2025, he was appointed to the board of the Pyrethrum Processing Company of Kenya after his tenure at REREC ended.
